The liberal chief Michael Ignatieff thinks that the forestry industry will be relaunched and Canada will take again the place as an international leader of the wood industry.
In order to succeed, it is necessary the dialog with the United States in order to resume the commercial exchanges. Also, he wants to invest in research and development of new technologies, especially on the bioenergy field. M. Ignatieff thinks that the government should also take part in this project because the simple relaunching of the economy is not enough and there is potential. “We must draw people in this field in order to form a new generation of forestry workers” has declared the liberal chief.
Also, he accuses the conservatory government for interfering too little and too late helping the forestry industry. Despite the market’s deceleration, the loan guaranties were not allowed to the companies in order to help them to continue the investment.
