On April, 27 the Latvian president, Valdis Zatlers, visited the companies Latvijas valsts meži, Amber wood, EIBE-L, Bolderaja Ltd, Latvijas finieris and the Research Institute of forest and wood products.
The representatives of the enterprises informed the president about the woodworking processes. Valdis Zatlers was pleasantly surprised by the fact that the companies didn`t have industrial waste, because they are recycle it.
Last year forestry represented approximately 7% of Latvia`s GDP and approximately 80.000 people worked in this branch. The share of this industry in the export`s incomes is 27%.
