The wood industry of the central and northen part of the Idaho region, Lewiston, has lost 10% of its employees, since last year, because of the lack of eficiency in the economy and the collapse of the wood construction industry.
Kathryn Tacke, a local economist in the work department of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, states that, according to the statistics of this department, there are currenty 988 employees in this sector, compared with 1100 employees in 2007.
In this region, the prospect is that the other industries will also be affected. This happens despite the fact that workers in the wood industry are better paid, with an average of 47470$/year, with no bonuses. The average salary for other industries is 29560$/year/worker.
