The effects of the appreciation of the Romanian leu in the wood industry
The Euro coin's depreciation and the national coin's appreciation tendencies are maintaining also this, having effects upon the wood industry exports, causing the manufacturers many displeasures, appreciates the president of the People working in the Wood Industry Association from Covasna, Romania, Mr. Kato Bela, quoted by www.covasnamedia.ro. V
Mr. Bela considers it is very hard to find a market in Romania, taking in consideration the fact that the raw material is being valued at an European level, but the products delivered on the market are being sold at national prices, the difference being a big one.
35% to the intermediary
One of the inconvenients would be the presence of the intermediary between the manufacturer and the seller: "We should look for direct connections, we should eliminate the intermediary, thus the prices will grow, being an advantage of the manufacturer", declared Mr. Kato Bela for www.covasnamedia.ro.
The intermediary could disappear also this year, by the free moving of the goods a company being able to make a wholesale in Romania in order to sell the goods easier to the small sellers or by smaller transports, by direct distribution. According to Kato, the intermediary gets around 35% of the price, also the seller and the manufacturer remains with a quarter. If the intermediary's problem could be solved easily, buying new equipment for the workshops consists in a bigger investment, and the European Unions's standards are a problem for the people working in the wood industry; the biggest one is the one regarding the environment.
The most simple equipment would cost about 100.000 Euro, but it can also get to 1 million Euro. "Regarding the technology, the equipments are all used, old from 1990 and, in order to be competitive, we have to buy another ones", said Mr. Kato Bela.
