Despite of all the gloomy predictions about the future of the timber industry at the global level, the latest data show that the world economy in this sector remains robust.
First, we must not forget the fact that, due to Hurricane Kyrill devastations, round wood stocks were almost exhausted, but supplies are still unequal, sometimes even difficult for a large number of sawmills in Switzerland .
Regarding the percentage of orders for the mills, the result is satisfactory, good, and sales of sawn softwood levels are elevated to global. In this sense, for the 2007/2008 interval, it is expected a positive development on the timber market and a growing demand for major sets of logs, sawn timber and wood industry.
For hardwood, the flow of beech logs is still a difficult issue to assess, but it is anticipated an overall increase in the interest in beechwood as industrial wood. |
