EGGER has broken ground at its $700 million Davidson County facility
Austria-based EGGER, a wood-based materials suppliers for the furniture, construction and flooring industry, has broken ground at its $700 million Davidson County facility - where the company will potentially create 770 jobs over 15 years. The company announced Monday that phase-one construction has begun on the 4.5 million-square-foot Lexington facility, which will be located in the I-85 Corporate Center.

The facility is expected to open in 2020. EGGER broke ground earlier this year on its corporate office building in Lexington. That building is expected to be open in early 2019 with room for an 80-person corporate staff. Phase one of the project involves an investment of $300 million, according to a previous Triad Business Journal interview with Karl Grasser, EGGER project manager for administration and finance of the Lexington project.

Though the facility is expected to be up and running in 2020, phase one hiring goals - 400 employees - will extend into late 2024. A complete buildout of the project and total hiring goals will extend into 2033.
